One of the most popular of all Shakespeare's history plays, Henry IV, Part I re-creates actual events from earlyth-century English history as King Henry deals a rebellion inside with his kingdom led by Harry Percy ("Hotspur") and other notables. Besides this mutinous action, the king must also contend with the dissolute ways of his son, Prince Hal, who spends much of his time in the company.

  2. Jul 07,  · HENRY IV PART 1 is the second of the Shakespeare histories released under the BBC's HOLLOW CROWN banner, following on from the excellent RICHARD II. This one offers similar quality, in terms of strong production values and decent performances, except that they're slightly wasted on what turns out to be one of the Bard's weaker plays/10(K).

  5. Best HENRY IV, PART I I've seen, although HOLLOW CROWN is worthy competition. Brilliant cast -- Finch, Gwillim, Piggott-Smith, Quayle, Swift, Morris, Cairney, Dotrice, and Morgan.
